Indiana State Flags - Outdoor and Indoor

The Indiana state flag was designed was designed by Paul Hadley who won a contest sponsored by the Indiana Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The contest to design an official state flag was held at the request of the Indiana General Assembly.

The Indiana state flag has a gold torch surrounded by an outer ring of 13 stars, and inner semi-circle of 5 stars, and a 19th larger star at the top of torch, representing Indiana’s admission as the 19th state to join the union. Underneath the 19th star is the word “Indiana” It was the state's first official flag and has remained unchanged since then except for the creation of a statute to standardize the production of the flag.
