The Ohio state flag or burgee is a swallowtail flag and is the only non rectangular U.S. state flag. The flag has a large blue triangle that represents Ohio's hills and valleys, while the stripes represent roads and waterways. The thirteen stars near the circle pays tribute to the original states of the union. The four stars added to the peak of the triangle recognizes the four states joining the Union after the original thirteen: Vermont, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio. The Ohio State flag has a white circle with a red center to represents the "O" in Ohio.
